KIRALINA – MONTREAL’S LATEST INTERNATIONAL ARTIST G.U.C.C.C.I (JAZZ ‘N BLUES) SINGER LEAVES FOR EUROPE
Fresh from Ocho Rios Jazz Festival for the second year in a row, the West Island Blues Festival and the Taste of the Caribbean 2011, and Top Twelve (second highest votes) in the Sound Real Good Gospel Competition, our GUCCCI Girl is off to Europe, where she will be making a music video of her latest original song in time for its release before Christmas.
She will also be recording an acoustic Album of her original songs and performing at several venues in and around Sweden and neighbouring countries. This invitation to Europe was initiated when the Swedish band Mynta and Kiralina connected with each other when they played together during her recent visit to Jamaica in June 2011. Some of these band members will join another Swedish band that will arrange and record her music. This will be an extended trip during which much work and ministry will be done primarily in Sweden, Norway and Denmark
Kiralina has done her share of volunteering and giving back to the Community and is now deservedly, well on her way to a bigger and brighter future. She has also just recently and very successfully released her latest Gospel Album and being the featured artist in some concerts and church events in Toronto and being the guest at many events in our city.
We know that all her Montreal, Canadian and overseas fans and supporters will be truly proud to be represented by her and wish her well. Her back-up ministry group Mouvement and band Nu Skool will not travel with her this time around, but will be certainly be present with her on one of her already scheduled next European trips.
Hats off to you Kiralina, we all knew that you would make it big someday with your sincerity, humility, consistency, poise and power and look forward to your single blowing up on I Tunes and You Tube and that your ministry and industry will continue to bloom and flourish and make all of us proud.
Kiralina wishes to extend thanks to some special folk in her life, Her Father in Heaven, her family (all-inclusive)Her Manager, Stylist, Agent, etc., her Church families (all-inclusive – Imani, (Home church with Pastor Darryl Gray) Assembly of Hope, Church on the Rock, Church of the Nazarene, St. Paul’s Anglican and all the others that allowed her to minister in their churches, eg. (AN EXCERPT FROM THE OBSERVER)
Imagine the power and dazzling mastery of a Sunday at the Jamaica House Jazz on the Green put on by the Rotary Club of Spanish Town – an afternoon of alluring music in the laid-back easy going environs of the green lawns of Jamaica House. The musical climate was long set by the Green House Effect imposed by Desi Jones and his band of musicians.
In homage to her West Indian roots and her love of American jazz, Kiralina approached her second stint in Jamaica with an expansive vision that reflects her rich and varied influences. The Canadian and Canada-based singer, who was tastefully refined in vocal styling and glamorous grooming, wonderfully performed such numbers as the unforgettable Duke Ellington's 1931 composition It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing), her soulful original You'll Never Know, God Bless the Child, A Change is Gonna Come and Through the Fire.
Ladies taking Ocho Rios jazz fest to a new level
Tuesday, June 08, 2010
An outstanding lineup of some of jazz's finest female performers will grace the stage for the 20th renewal of the Ocho Rios International Jazz Festival, scheduled for June 12 to 20. Hosted by the recently launched Sonny Bradshaw Foundation, which was established to honour the memory and work of the late festival originator Cecil 'Sonny' Bradshaw, the festival kicks off on June 12 with a fashion/wine/jazz show at the French Ambassador's residence in Kingston.
Among the many outstanding female performers this year are Canadian-born vocalist Kiralina; trumpeter Ginetta of the band Ginetta's Vendetta; American singer Carmen Lundy; Mexican singer Lila; saxophonist Pamella Williams; the inimitable Myrna Hague-Bradshaw; percussionist Ouida Lewis, keyboardist Dr Kathy Brown and the ever-green Marjorie Whylie.
Vocalist Kiralina covers a wide range of singing genres and boasts an impressive performance record, including appearances on the Apple Hollow Music Festival 2008 where she was the featured guest soloist; the Montreal Jazz Festival with Voices of Soul for Patti LaBelle; the West Island Blues Festival and Taste of the Caribbean Food Festival where she has been guest vocalist since 2001.
Ginetta, composer, bandleader, vocalist and trumpeter extraordinaire, is one of the brightest stars on the scene today. She has studied and played most styles of music ranging from classical, jazz, blues and pop to cumbia, Salsa, merengue and funk. An alumni of North Texas State University, she was taught by trumpet masters Marky Markowitz, Spanky Davis, Ted Curson, Howard McGhee and Allan Colin.
The Evening Standards newspapers describe Carmen Lundy as "a genuine jazz singer". She is celebrated throughout the world for her vocal artistry and is highly regarded for her jazz innovation. Her contribution of over 50 self-penned compositions now comprises the New Jazz Songbook.
Percussionist Ouida Lewis, who earned qualifications from the Music School of Amsterdam, Holland, the Amsterdam Dance Centre (ADC), Toko Tap studio Amsterdam and most recently from The Edna Manley School of Visual and Peforming Arts, played in her first Ocho Rios Jazz festival in 2005. In 2006, she, along with her band Cacique were the opening act for a major Ernie Ranglin show at The Caves in Negril.
Dr Kathy Brown, Jamaican pianist and jazz instrumentalist routinely captivates audiences with pleasing jazz arrangements and delightful piano riffs, and is and medical doctor to boot.
Inducted into the Jamaican Jazz Hall of Fame in 1997, Marjorie Whylie is a much-respected musicologist, who has lectured and conducted workshops in England, continental Europe and North America and judged music competitions in the Eastern Caribbean. In addition to performing with her band Whylie Wrhythms, she is the manager of Jamaica's Big Band and also performs as a pianist and singer.
Jazz Month — as the late Sonny Bradshaw dubbed the month of June -- will culminate in Ocho Rios on Father's Day, June 20, with a spectacular show at the Turtle River Park, featuring among others Kingsley Ettienne, Pamella Williams, Idris Ackamoor, Fab Five and Joe Sizemore and Kiralina ,Gospel Vocalist and Laila with her blue violin.

KIRALINA - GUCCCI |
In God's name I believe that she should be singing what she enjoys singing most. Because that is where she will find her abundance (even if she picks country and I don't like country, lol........it is still a very popular style of singing and had been for over half a century now) And she can even do the contemporary christian music which can be in her own style .......like Rebecca st James.
As for the gospel style, well, it makes her twice as strong then!!!!!I believe she would make a wonderful pop singer in the contemporary fashion and could make a very good living with that!!!
She will excel in what ever she loves singing most. For when you follow your heart and sing your voice needs no prodding, you SHINE!!!

Hi Sherma, Her Voice sounds great! I would approach an R&B producer in Toronto, NY OR LA who has a good track record and with them find the songs that work best. In this Business I find it takes a team of people and money to get you where you want to be and of course the talent!! Being in the town that's putting out the pro stuff always helps because In Montreal you are limited. There are some producers that are always looking but you need to sign up to access their database.
All the best
